Navy apprehended a person with a stock of fish caught using explosive, at South
Bar area in Mannar on 04th March 2020.
As
a measure of preventing the destruction caused to the marine environment and
its creatures by explosive used for illegal fishing, SL Navy carries out
constant operations. Accordingly, a group of naval personnel attached to the
North Central Naval Command, apprehended a person with a stock of fish caught
using explosive during a raid conducted at South Bar area in Mannar on 04th
March 2020. This stock of fish was found in a fishing hut.
The
apprehended person has been identified as a resident of the same area, aged 47.
The suspect together with the fish stock handed over to the Assistant Director
of Fisheries-Mannar for legal action.
